New Phones,

J-Dub Wrote:You know i dont understand why the phone matters so much on what kind of service you get for Nextel / Sprint. Thats BS I'd never get a Nextel.

Becaus Nextel runs on a whole differnt system I guess. Because they have the direct connect (walkie talkie). That's the only reason why we still have Nextel.

I have'nt had a contract for the last 8 years.
And when i called nextel complaining about the i730.
they had me take it to a nextel store and have it reflashed and it would be fine.Got it back and it was worse than before.
We would be out camping and everyone but me would have signal.
(And yes most of us had nextel)
So i switched to an old phone i had laying around. An i205. Works Great.
No problems with the service.
So i called nextel back to complain again and tell them i was cancceling my service on all of the phones on the acct.

They had a rep calling me with in 10 minutes offering me free phones of my choice. for all 8 of are phones. with a 2 year contract.
Which is ok with me.
So im not concerned with the cost of the phone as much as the something that works well.

880 is what I have now. No issues besides the tower switching...but I drive 150+miles aday all around the chicagoland area. So I have to expect that.

And yes, nextel has a different kind of network then any other phone company. Thats why when AT&T took over cingular. There were no issues and it basicly happened overnight... Sprint and Nextel are like apples and oranges when it comes to the network. But they are working to bring both together which would explain the signal issues with some phones or the 'dead spots' some might have.

slaytanic Wrote:Dude look at the blackberry's! They just about give them away and you get a very stable operating system that works seamless with email and IM. I have the pearl. It's smaller than most phones and works great. With my sprint phone I didn't have service in my house. Now I get a signal everywhere. Mine is through ATT but just about everyone supports them now.

By the way I was with sprint for like 12 years and got so fed up with there chit. I havn't been with ATT long but their customer service is miles ahead of sprint!!

But really, they all kiss your ass to get your biz, but once they have you they don't give a damn! With sprint, if you want a new phone you pay full price until 2 years then they give you 75$ off. So my advise is when you get new service, get the best phone you can because it's the only time it wont cost you a mint!
I have not had a problem with sprints cast service yet! I went in there about 3 months back because the camera on my phone stopped working(keeping in mind I'm abusive to phones) They looked at it for water damage, checked the programming, and ended up giving me a brand new phone that day for free! Any problems I have with my contract are fixed within minutes of me calling or going into the store. I guess I'm just lucky!!
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PAIN; THE INK AND THE JEWELRY ARE JUST SOUVENIERS
