Indoor Rockcrawling
#26
$359 wow, they must have realized they werent going to sell them with what they were asking. I think HT will get better. The guy that runs the place is more of a plane guy and its taken Me (customer) Zach,Joe,Jay (employees) a couple years to convince him that crawling is something to support. You should have seen that store when they took it over, it had been run into the ground so bad Im suprised they were able to turn it around. Last I knew they were making a list of parts to carry so, stop in and let them know what you would like to see in the store. Me personally I asked that they start carrying more rc18 stuff and they did. But since I custom build all my trucks I dont use off the shelf parts so I havent been able to suggest stuff like the axial replacment parts (I use Maxx/Revo stuff allot). Although, some GWS outrunners would be nice (and could hide them in a plane order Smile )

I went up to do some crawling and the owner convinced me (yeah like it was that hard) to finish the course so they can host a comp (see other thread)....[Image: IMG_1109-1.jpg]

Looks great Jeff, maybe I'll bring the WK down tomorrow!

I went and looked on Tower, they're asking $359.99 on it there too. It's more worth whats being asked for it that then it's predecessor was.

Nice pictures! Not very high climbs though. Does the truck get a work out?

I spent most of my time today outside running the truck. Did very well in most areas Smile slippery rocks though.. then ran over to RC Hobbies.. heard you made it up there jetboat.. what did you think? I know theres is mostly climbs and articulations. They had more rock for me today so I got to make some side climbs and "runs". Came out pretty good.. it got late and never made it to HT

ohhh well maybe next sunday i will stop by after the comp's..

It gets a heck of a workout!!! If your suspension and driving isnt up to par your going to have trouble.
I did make it up to the other place...I wasnt real impressed. I like how tall it is but, driving over rocks and getting hung up all day realy isnt fun to me. But, it makes for a good demo course and from talking to the owner thats what he is going for. He could improve it pretty cheaply if he wanted.

suspension and driving.. no problem.. tires.. well.. they need some work..

yes it is very tall at RC Hobbies.. more like a climb. I have now completed 4.5 trails. Two new rock crawling paths.

RCH hill is more for climbs like when I used to do Offroading. Many of the trails we made we added rock to "challenge" people. Hung up on rocks.. yup. It takes time to learn where to go so you dont get hung up. There is tricks to every aspect on that hill. Every trail today has been completed by my rig and also my buddies modified WK. One trail is a bit easier which I am sure you saw next to the wall. Most people get hung up on the first large object and finally figure out how to make it.

Its good to have a difference though between other places. This allows change ups so you dont get bored of doing the same thing. The good thing about RCH. I can change it anytime I want.. make it a little more fun I like to say. A few more smaller rock and I feel its done.. (he had another load for me yesterday to work with) I use the small rocks to lock in the larger rocks. It has been working very well.

I am sure I will try out Hobbie Towns one of these days since its completed and since they are running comps..

I was using that run next to the wall like I was rockracing...it was loads of fun that wayBig Grin

The HT track is built as a base, you can change the entire course by just moving a couple rocks. I was hoping they would make it modular so you could rearange the sections but....oh well.

Yeah that was pretty much what everyone liked.. the trail by the wall. Now after the rocks he got I was able to make 3 more trails that are like that. A lot more fun. I just need some smaller rock and its locked in. It is rockcrawling thats for sure. But remember this is me being totally new to the small scale crawling. I am going off memory of full scale crawling and getting hooked on a lot of those rocks in my full size truck. So its real to me Smile But now it isnt such a problem anymore as long as he left the trails the way I had them. Course since it isnt perm he and others change it up during the week.

I have learned all you can do is help. But remember its thier course and thier setup. They will use it how they see fit and we are just guests helping out here and there.

I help most of the time just for fun. And create something that is challenging to myself. I really dont think about others when I create something. I want something that is going to be hard for me and if others find it too hard.. well tough Smile But I guess thats how the hill has changed so many times when I get there.

At my house I am getting ideas on making some courses with "Great Stuff" for this spring summer climbing around the front of my house. Over the weekend I have climbed just about every rock I have on front of my house Smile (Had to watch the kids while wife was out) so we went outside and drove the trucks. Lots of fun with the nice weather we had and some good crawling. But I need more climbs Smile Looking at these courses and ideas.. now I can set something up at home so I dont always have to go somewhere to climb Smile

At one point my neighbor had split a plastic bottle in half and used each half to cover his axels to keep them from dragging so much. So he knows what your talking about. My axiel made it right over.

I have since changed it so the "hook ups" where not such a problem. Also added 2 side crawling spots so your not always going up but you can climb around the hill Smile

I don't worry about the axles so much, especially since they've done a little "self clearancingBig Grin" My concern has always been the center of the chassis. I put a home made lexan skid on mine within a couple weeks of buying it.
