I'm curious if using a starter box makes starting nitros much easier?

Yes.

Much easier....

I'm convinced...
Next question, what do you think of this starter box to use for both the Mayhem and my TC3?
07-28-2005, 03:31 PM
It'll work, but you might need to swap the motor positions around to fit both cars on one box

I called Ofna, it won't work on the TC3 the wheel turns the wrong way.

I got this one new from Towers. I'm so looking forward to easier starts.

Starter boxes are good .

Now when you start your car on one of these do you have to listen for the engine to start and lift your car up quick or can it be running while on the box?
I think with the roto-start sometimes it's trying to start and I'm still running the wand. Or maybe it is more of a problem with my one way bearing?

it can run while it's on the box, you'll see what i mean after you get used to it.

With the roto-start, does it mess up the engine starting if you don't pull it off right away?
07-29-2005, 01:16 PM
not that I'm aware of. I've used a few different rotostarts and when it starts you just pull it out nice and calmly

I think I need to drink a few more beers before I start nitros, I get pissed too easy

initially most everyone hates starter boxes. they take some getting used to but after you get the hang of it its much.. much easier.

I love the EZ start on the Revo but I know it's bush-league if you're going real racing.
My NS4 ss12 starts on about 3 pulls every time, hot or cold. The son's ns4 .15 usually takes a little more tugging, especially when it's cool out. That's when I would like a box most.

theres a motor and rubber wheel inside a box with little rubber stops ontop of the box. Your car aligns on the rubber stops and by pushing down a connection is made and from the battery and motor and that turn the wheel which in turn turns the flywheel and starts your engine.

Anyone know where there is a tutorial or something on how to use a starter box? I'm clueless..

Is it already set up to turn the flywheel the right way? After that you just make sure the flywheel touches the rubber wheel when you push down with the car on top of the box.

I don't know where I should mount the pegs on top of the starter box. I'm just totally confused, I'm going to have to ask the guys at the track how to use it.
What do people normally use for power? Right now I'm running two 6-cell packs.
08-08-2005, 08:27 PM
I use 2 cell packs for my buggy starter box and a gell cell for my revo box.

RCdad, are trying to figure out how to line up the pegs for the buggy or the touring car ?

One can reverse the direction the motor turns on a starter box by switching the positive and negative leads to the motor. I had to do this with a dynamite stater box for my jato.
