I heard a rumor that there's going to be a hot tub also! LOL!!!!
Seriously though, I hope you got rain out there today to help set the track dirt.

And I heard there's gonna be an escalator up to the drivers stand and a water slide down from it. Maybe that's where the hot tub will be...at the end of the slide.
As long as the consessions vendors make good chili cheese dogs, who cares about anything else?

Man, Bernie, MIke Lyday, and whoever else has been picthing in have done an outrageous job !! Me, Sonny O. and Kassal took a ride out to the track yesterday, and I was damn impressed. LH is raising the bar on what an RC facility should be. The track is insane ! Sonny ran a few tanks while he was there, then Mike showed up and ran with him. Here are a few pics. The overall track layout, minus the front staight (photoshop merged them the best it could). There is also a pic to try and give an idea of the elevation change, as well as a merged pic of the pitroom. There is also a pic to give you all an idea of the overall size of this track, as well as a pic of Sonny and Mike airing it out over the triple. I don't know how hard Sonny was running, but he was turning some mid-40 second lap times.

is there any tentative time that he will open the doors. i heard that he was having troubles with permits or something. i know the cold is approaching fast and hope that it will be open in time to be able to race this winter. the track looks awesome. i wish that i lived closer to be able to lend a helping hand. keep up the good work bernie and can't wait to come down there and give it a run.

I did hear Bernie mention that he was hoping to have at least one outdoor race this year. The only thing is that in order to do that, the WHOLE facility has to be done (all building permits signed off on). Also, I think the location the new faciility is at is going to help the sport grow big time in this area. The reason I say that is that Challenge Park Extreme (paintball) is right across the street, and I see some people wandering across the street to check out the track. I've been to Challenge Park a few times, and it seems that there is always a couple hundred people there.

Are you working on this around your job schedule? Just curious, if I took like a week off, if I could come out on weekdays. I'm not much of a carpenter but I drove many a nail into rail car beds when I was in the military.

No, this is my job. I posted for help because some guys back at the old track said they would like to help if I needed. and it would make things go faster. I'm almost done with the restrooms framing. doing the hobby shop tomorrow. The heating is half done. Pluming guy tomorrow. big doors are in. hope to have the indoor driver stand done next week.

Bernie, I'm in Dallas this weekend for the US MT Nationals but I'd like to help the week of the 26th.
I actually am a former carpenter and can hang drywall also. I won't mud and tape however. I hate that shit! I've got all my tools that I can bring, you just gotta pick me up at the Metra station in Joliet. PM me if you want me to stop out.

Tex, I've got all the tools to tape and mud if you need them. I just won't do it anymore. Maybe the first coat on seams but no corners anymore. No way!! Definately no sanding!!!!!!!

Bernie-
If you want you can send me a PM or post a schedule of when you plan on being there. I could probably come down with my friend if I'm not working. (You know my friend Ian Kosakowski with the MBX-4 that always talked about racing you at the old track) Anyway... I finally got into 1/8 and am occasionally at the MTB park at Challenge Park and wouldn't mind lending a hand to get this thing done. Let me know...
