size does matter when it comes to track size especially when racing 1/8 scale. and it seems to be a business. not hey i have this land in my yard come and play so he needs to keep a business aspect of it and decide what he can and cant run on the track sadly i think it is to small for 1/8 scale ill give it a try but im not to sure how well it will work

another thing i see is a problem is trying to please diffrent aspects of the hobby. you have to wory about running 2 diffrent race venues on diffrent days or diffrent time in the day. plus then if you have ahobby shop with it it will add the fact you need more inventory to keep people coming in if they need parts and such

Great to see somebody getting the initiative to build a track out here. Live in Lake in the Hills and traveling 85 miles (each way) to LeisureHoursRaceway takes 3 hours of driving time total. And yes, I'm bending the speed limit at times.
Recently purchased a buggy for the dirt. 1/16 scale (as big as my shoe). Love it and will be moving up to a bigger buggy later. Anyways, PM me if you need help with the track. I work nights and can re-arrange sleep and I have no kids to work around. Well the wife (ouch), will need some extra attention. Keep in touch and stay committed.

I think 8th scales need at least like 125x100 to stretch their legs...any less would seem cramped and small. I'd say it'd be decent for like stock truck and buggy. Mod wouldnt be able to stretch legs. Hate to critisize but the facts are there. But alot of guys race electric still.

I agree size matters, but this still does not justify any complaints, I say if you go, good, if you dont, no one will be missed

Dear prospective track owner,
I know that the Madison area indoor dirt track, RC Performance, is pulling out the dirt and putting in carpet. With that example, I would do some more marketing research. Maybe indoor carpet on-road would be a better business? I think most of the track "complaints" are really valuable pieces of market feedback. Business is business. Fun is fun. Business is not fun. Best of luck.

Awesome! Thanks guys! We are still going with this. Its small...... but its all we have. A place to play is better than no place at all. Atleast thats the way I look at it. Like I said the track will make up for its small size. lol not how big your boat is.. its how fast ya sink it.. lol JK

I hope you follow through with this track. I live in Woodstock and am tired of driving so far to race. I have a B4 and a T4 and I don't think the track is too small. I am guessing it's about the same as Trackside.
All of you 1/8 nitro guys need to stop saying the track is too small and change your driving-maybe you won't need full throttle-give it a shot!

stingrayguy Wrote:Hello folks!
My name is Brad, And my brother and I are looking to open up a indoor dirt track. The track is going to be located in Lake In The Hills Illinois zip 60156, We already have the building, We have tons of pit space. A 35foot driver stand. As of right now the track is 50x55 with a nice clay/dirt mix. We will use the Ilap timing system and transponders will be available for anyone to use. There will be 3 practice nights during the week and races Saturday and Sunday. And maybe Friday night. Again we are still working on this and hope to have it all up and running with in a month or so. We will run intro races.
Any questions please post them up here!!!
This is cool, I live in S. Elgin and would be more than willing to come out.:joy:
