Berg 2.2

My friend is buying a Berg 2.2 and wanted me to research some electronics and batteries for it. He likes the Tekin speedo and a 3 cell lipo setup with 45t brushed motors. Anyone have any ideas or pics of what works for you? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks Rob

the tekin is a great esc. I would go with 55t motors though. With a 3cell you'll get plenty of wheel speed with 55t motors. Plus the extra torque.

Yeah seems like a good setup. I'm running 55t's and 3 cell lipo with a set of dig switches and sidewinder esc. I really like it lots of torque on tap while still being able to speed off in hurry.

What is needed to run a 3cell lipo in the berg? He is getting the mamba sidewinder ant 2 55t brushed motors. Does he need a bec? What dimension on the lipo and where to mount it? Any info is appreciated as he is ordering all items this weekend with the Berg kit coming monday. Also any good mg dig. servos fairly chaep? Thanks alot guys. Rob K.

I wish I would have brought it as well. Damn Eritex still hasn't got my wheel fixed. Don't order from that guy ever took me 2-3 months to get the wheels made. Then they failed do to poor engineering and now it's been a month after I sent payment for 2 replacements and he still hasn't sent it out and doesn't contact. I dislike the guy so much I'm pretty close to just selling them off just because they were made by him and they don't hold up. They are sexy wheels though. I've only been to 2 comps this whole season do to that moron taking his sweet time. I plunked $200 on these flippin wheels and they just haven't worked. I'm a cheap bastard I rarely ever plunk cash on parts unless I seriously can't make what I want. Seriously, the most wasteful $ part on my rig. I'm waiting till someone comes out with a proper wheel like I want offset and width wise. I might just make it a winter project and make them myself. Just tired of blowing money on wheels that are just not what I want or being stuck with the same wheels everybody else has. I just don't feel I can claim ownership.

Anyways now that thats out and I feel better...


These are the Lipo's I've been using. They have been holding up just awesome. Only pack I could find that was short enough to fit between the tire and gearbox.

I run a BEC because my steering servo is a major power hog. I consider 300oz of torque just enough for competition level crawling. The most important part of comp level crawling is being able to go where you want to go. With that said I run a 425oz $125 servo JR 9100T. Not cheap but super reliable (lasts all season) and either turns the wheels or the whole back of the truck. I had to dial the speed down a bit it's just to sensitive and fast to keep track of. I also have ran Hitec TG servos with great luck took 3 years of high stress crawling before growing weak. Comp crawling is super super super rough on servos, if there is anything you go cheap on don't let it be your servo.

I agree monster..If there's one thing you spend dough on, its your steering. I think the JR 9100 Series is about the best you can get. (I think they should follow KO with the aluminium tabs too)

How do you wire 2 motors to 1 sidewinder speedo? Do i need a bec for 3cell lipo and if i do what size? Sorry for all the questions as my friend is trying to finish up his Berg. Thanks Rob

directions for the sidewinder should be in the book... basically just wire them parrallel, red to positive and black to neg. With the Sidewinder you will want an ext. BEC 3mps just doesnt cut it in crawling. Is it really your Friends crawler or are you a closet crawler?

I wish it was my crawler. I cant afford it as all my rc stuff is offroad racing including a mugen buggy and truggy, race revo, mini crt.5, slash, T-4, mini and micro t for my 2 year old daughter. I think i will get a crawler after i see how Kenny's Berg turns out. Thanks again for the info. Rob
