I just want to thank everybody for all the well wishes for my daughter and family. The surgery was today and was a complete sucess. Tomorrow will be the first day in the new life for one very special little girl. The surgeon said it couldn't of gone more perfect. She was a real trooper. Both eyes were disconnected and realigned and muscles were straightened and stiched back where they belong. According to the doctor she will not loose any vision because we caught it in the nick of time.
So thanks again who sent out the prayers and thoughts to us because they were answered and appreciated. I'm usually a pretty strong guy. I didn't cry when either of my kids were born or when my gramma passed, but I couldn't swallow when they took that girl outta my arms this morning. Watching her cry for me and hold out her arms wanting me just tore me up bad.
I can honestly say I don't think I ever felt that bad. I know that we did the right thing and was a must do thing but man was it hard.
As far as recovery, She has 2 stitches in each eye. 1 will dissolve in 5-10 days and the other won't dissolve for 12 weeks so they can monitor the movement of the muscle. Right now she is sore as this was a knife surgery not laser. They said she will see little y's in her vision for about 24 hours due to the stitches and wants to rub her eyes a lot due to the stitches not being soft yet. They said about 12-24 hours for them to soften up so she won't feel them. All in all she should be back up dancing to the backyardigans by monday or tuesday.
Thanks Again guys!
