To be honest, I don't know if shooting like that officer was safer than just using the PITT manuver in the first pace since it looked like a populated area and a stray round could have been a problem. I could just see a bevy of lawsuits against the police between citizens po'd about that and the driver's laywer going after him for "civil rights violations" and "police abuse" because the got flung out of and run over the truck from the officers actions
