National Championship Series
#1
THE SERIES
What is it?

The series is designed to bring interest and racers back to the local club.

In the series racers can compete at their local tracks for points toward a National Championship in the class(es) offered in this series.
TRACKS
To be eligible the track must be in the US & have electronic scoring.

RACES
Tracks are allowed 6 race dates which must be finished by December 20th . Each track will set it's own schedule and post those series dates on the tracks page on the NCCS website. Race dates for series points should be normal club race style. Meaning single day with normal race fees.

TROPHIES
Club Events
If a track wishes to offer trophies for the NCCS class on their race days it is the tracks responsibility to supply those. It is also acceptable to have a slightly higher entry fee to cover trophies. NCCS will offer a low cost trophy for these events if the track wishes to utilize it. Awards must be ordered 3 weeks before the event. Email [email protected] for details.

National Awards
NCCS will award the top 20 Nationally at the end of the year. Also the top 3 will receive items from our National Sponsors. As we sign national sponsor and know what we will have toward these prizes we will announce them.

RESULTS
Each track is required to log on to the NCCS website after each event and list the individual event finishing order into the results page. Also upload the scoring results from the scoring system. Results are required to be posted within the week following each race. If this is not done your racers will not have points listed toward their National Championship. A track will be dropped from the series if results are not posted in a timely manner.

FORMAT
Qualifying heats will be 7 minutes. We suggest rocket round qualifying based on the normal club races rarely have more than 3 rounds of qualifying. Mains will be 7 minutes.

Why only 7 minutes?
This time is used to prevent battery wars in search of run time. The idea behind this series is keeping it cheap and fun.
RACERS
All racer have to do is make a profile on RCSignup and go race at their nearest track that is signed up for the series. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A PROFILE ON RCSIGNUP, YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN. Racers may run at any track participating in the series. EACH RACERS BEST 4 FINISHES WILL BE USED TOWARD THE FINAL POINTS STANDINGS.
CLASS(ES)
The first class we will be offering is a SLASH SPEC CLASS. More classes may be added in the future but this class seems to be the most popular at the club level right now and should be large from the beginning. The low cost of the truck and scale appearance seems to elevate the fun factor as well as make it a perfect class for beginners.

Why not have a buggy class?
The Buggy & Truggy classes already have so many large races nationally do we really need to add more of them to an overloaded schedule?
RULES
Rules for the Slash class will be designed to keep the racing close and competitive. Each track will have the option of setting a pinion gear rule to fit that track. All other national rules should be maintained as written in the rules package. Variance from the rules are grounds for a track to be dropped from the series. We do not have the personnel to police every track involved in this series but from past experience the racers are self policing on things like this and we will know.
FINALS
There are no National Finals planned for this series. It was a thought but that defeats the purpose of keeping it cheap for the racers and promoting the local racing. The national Champion will be decided by the points scored in the series. Tie breakers are listed in the points section.

PROMOTION

Local Promotion. The tracks and racers will be a major portion of the promotion. Because the points are based on entries in the National Class smart tracks and racers should help promote each event at their local track to get more turnout and everyone receives more points then. Each track is open to sign individual sponsors for their local races.

National Promotion. RC Pro and RCSignup will operate the website housing the results, track information and racer information. They will also secure national sponsorship for the series to cover awards costs for the year end National awards and maintain the website. They will work to secure contingency awards for the racers as well as magazine advertising of the series.
POINTS
The points system starts with a base figure for each position starting with 100 points to win and reducing by 2 pts per position. Maximum allowed in the class at a single event is 50. Each racer will receive bonus points based on how many entries were in the class at each event attended. Example – if there were 25 entries in the class each position gets a bonus of 25. This is designed to offset the added difficulty of more entries.

How are the points tabulated?
Once a track lists the finishing order for an event the website will automatically calculate the points for each racer based on finishing position and number of entries in the class at that event. Once an event results are listed the National points will update automatically and can be viewed on the National points page. The individual points standings for each track will be listed on that tracks page.

What about ties?
Tie breakers will be as follows:

1. Racers with the most TQ's.
2. Racer with the most first place finishes.
3. Racer with the most 2nd place finishes.
4. Most 3rd place finishes.
5. Most 4th places.

IN CLOSING

As mentioned numerous times this series is designed to promote local racing. Major events have exploded to the point of damaging local racing and forcing numerous tracks to close. We hope to bring racers back to the local track and give those that have never left to travel a National Championship to race for without traveling. The promotion from this series should get many tracks noticed by racers outside the normal area and should increase attendance to help pay those bills and hopefully help keep more tracks open.

What does RC Pro/RCSignup get from this series? Along with more work to keep the records and another website to maintain we hope to help rebuild local racing in the US. There is no charge to the tracks or the racers from RC Pro or RCSignup to participate in this series. We hope to cover expenses through sponsorship by national sponsors. RC Pro has made it's name by running multi day race events we will still operate that series but we also hope to help the local tracks survive and grow without the local tracks racing at all levels die!

The Outback events are now listed and entries can be accepted:

RCSignup.com - Outback RC

Since the NCCS races must occur at the normal club price, that would make these SLASH Series races "free" at the Outback.
