For me, it's just one more thing to charge, maintain and carry... all my engines have pull starts.

The way i look at it is, Less drag on the motor which in turn gives you more power, Sealed engine so more reliability, Less maitence because you dont have to be cleaning that OWB before every race day, ect ect. TO many reasons for ME to ditch all that stuff. Starter box is just a battery and wheel. Never had a bearing lock up and cause me a race since i went starter box. But if you dont mind all the work that a pullstarter gives you then more power to ya.

I don't race (strictly basher only). Cleaning a OWB once a gallon doesn't bother me. A well tuned engine starts in 2 or 3 pulls.

thats how it was when i had pullstarts.

oh well I am going bump box on mine, just trying to decide on motors for now. Choice between a monster NR 528XR or a RB C5 for better drivability, both bs of course. I never had an issue with a ps ever and I rarely ever cleaned them so I must have been lucky. I did see that KO offers a top plate for the X1 that I am ordering that makes bs'ing much easier to line up cause it fits the chassis perfectly once installed. Should make it easier.

And I agree, you did tell me. It just was in the wrong location for me. In good traffic I made it there in 20 min's from my house. Not too bad. And seeing what all they stocked, pretty much worth the drive.

maybe it was longer? dunno....so much depends on the run from I55 exit up to Boughton Road. If you hit the lights, it saves 10 mins!

I went to al's yesterday on my lunch break to pick up a couple glow plugs and a fuel bottle... It took them 35 minutes to get me rung out at the counter... So much for lunch. 15 minutes there, 15 minutes back... 35 minutes waiting.

I like their prices and their helpful attitude, but I hate their service... it's almost enough for me to go to Lagrange on my lunch hour to get help from the old angry guy.

if you stand around at Al's and not say anything just waitng for them to come to you it will always take alot longer. Speak up, tell them your in a hurry, make sure they know you need help.

When im in a rush, I'll call ahead and have them set my stuff aside(tell them your in a hurry when you call), If they're busy when I get there I'll ask someone for my stuff and get rung out at another counter(airplane Dept.)Waiting in line, when im not in hurry, helps me remember anything I may have forgotten. Im about 35-45 minutes away from Als, so it sucks to get home to realize you forgot something.

I too was at Leisure's hobby shop on thursday, nice shop indeed. It was about a 50-60 minute ride. So many goodies, felt like a kid in a candy store. Meet some cool cats(Mich,Rocco),and spent some money on stuff I really didn't need.Cool

You guys know that you can order parts from Leisure Hours by phone and they will be waiting for you at the track the next day right? I have been doing this the last couple of weeks and man is it nice. I live 10 min. from Al's but every time I go there it takes to long to get what I need so my trip ends up being 2 hours. I like to talk to the guys but lately I just don't have the time to do it. Leisure Hours is very well stocked.

That is a great service for the track users, no doubt.

I like going to the shops because I always look around and buy some extra stuff I wasn't planning on. Getting just what you need is no fun! Big Grin

LOL, I always forget stuff even tho i live 5 minutes away. So I have gotten used to just waiting around, and trying to remember what I needed.
