Seeing how Ryan buys more motors than anyone else around these parts, I thought we should dedicate a little section for him to tell us how great they are until they blow or until he finds another motor he falls in love with.
You earned it Ryan, enjoy it.

Referring to the other thread I said I was done with os small blocks. Im willing to give the vspec a shot since ive seen a lot of good reviews on them lately. Mostly not from local people either.
Traxxas motors are awesome. My 2.5r has tons of great usable power. Tunes so reliable with the stock carb once it gets a little fuel through it.
My 3.3 is still amazing me. Everytime I temped my motor this past weekend the highest temps I saw were 220. It was a little to rich but judging by the performance I saw I would have sworn it was upper 200's.
The picco .21 drop in's for the t-maxx were pretty cool. Tons of unusable power. It was just fun to drive no matter how annoying the motor was.
The .18 os motors (tm and tz, tm more then anything) really suck. I averaged 3 gallons before the bearings would let go. Went through 4 motors before I just said screw them.
HPI 4.6 motor was sweet. I got the break in on it and it just flew. Tuned perfect from the first time it started. Ran really fast. Had a ton of potential IMO.
Novarossi plus 21-5 has tons of great power. Unfortunatly im experiencing all the power in the upper 200's for some reason. When temps are around 220 on the track its just sluggish and is really rich. But my pinch is so freaking tight I can sometimes turn it over by hand with the flywheel. Still breaking in so im gonna give it a few more gallons before I judge the motor.
Il try and think of other motors ive had

Mich you tempted 287F on your Plus21 after a 30 min main, switching fuels in the middle of the main without retuning, low on fuel at the time (in the gas tank) and the motor is still in break in stages.
OF COURSE IT'S GUNNA RUN THAT HOT!
BTW, even the pros will tell you that 290F isn't bad if you have plenty of smoke and the motor doesn't act lean. Run it where it's happy
You do NOT need a new motor right now.

im not giving up on it and I never said I was. I said I want something more consistant and easier to tune for me at the bigger races because im not used to a big block motor yet. Im keeping this motor no matter what.

I saw the temp reading he's talking about, it was UNDER 300F, it was either 287 or 297.
It's fine ryan. That's normal for the conditions you were running in. (See one of my previous posts for the "conditions")
