Tex is once again correct, any vehicle is more likely to show it's weaknesses on the track. I've spent a whole year learning what to improve on my Revo so that I can finish a full 30 min. main.

He's also correct is stating that beginning racers will break more parts than more experienced ones. Trust me on that one!! I used to break stuff all the time at LH last year. This year I was catching 10' high air off the big double in Dallas and sticking the landing everytime. Last year I'm sure I'd have broken something.

RC DAD, I think you'll find that once you start racing with a good sized group like we have now that you'll lose some of your interest in bashing.

it's all the same amount of fun (bashing and racing), your adrenaline still pumps good both ways BUT like satoch said once you start racing it's a whole other arena of RC fun.

it's kinda like bashing is boring after you've raced.

Here is an example .....
if you've ever seriously played a racing videogame. Ok, imagine your racing a car in the game on a track and you have all the turns to judge and all that stuff. Your checking lap times, trying to stick a line and be consistant.

THEN, the track dissapears and you are driving in an open field with nothing but flat land. Not so much fun anymore.

ya that was tex giving me a hard time because i didnt want to bash but i still made it out to that bash and bashed anyway. He put me down and made me feel like sh*t because i started enjoying racing a lot more then just bashing. Kinda funny to because not to long after that he all the sudden became a big racer and only wanted to race. Every monday he would always say i cant wait for the weekend so i can go racing again. He even left the showmerc bashing club to join the dirt dawgs racing club.

But anyways once you know how to jump your truck, control it in the air, land properly, and maintane it your going to hardely ever replace parts unless there just worn out. Racing pushes these trucks to there limits without a doubt. Engines are constantly revved all day, raced really hard. Trying to get through turns faster also puts stress on a-arms and pivot ball suspensions. Rod ends were out faster because of the abuse these things take at a track. But like i said before once you know how to drive without crashing and hitting other people your not really gonna break any parts, your just gonna be replacing worn out parts.

Bashing and racing are two completly different things. Each fun in there own way, one is more relaxed the other is more adrenaline pumping. Racing is definatly a lot more expensive. You see guys at the track who have another two full trucks in brand new parts and just use it all in spares for there racer. Tires up the wall ect ect. You get my point. bashing is just start it and go. Just let it all out and have fun.

I still don't see much difference between racing and bashing as far as damage is concerned. I was amazed this season to see maybe 2-3 cars finish a race because of broken parts etc. That's one thing I thought about as far as a Savage racer, it just seems it would take the abuse.

It may not corner as well but as far as being put out of a race because someone runs into you etc. it seems like it would be far tougher.

I suppose I'll find out .... some day ... whenever the Joliet track is built but I know several guys on SC who race competitively in the A-Mains at local tracks, however, they have said the Savage is worthless in national competition.

Being an ex savage owner, there is one thing that is for sure. The savage can break just as easy as any other truck out on the race track. You should have seen how many times I broke over the winter! While I was bashing though, it was rock solid. I think it's pretty easy to say that racing is much harder on your truck than bashing.

The savage is a strong truck but without regular maintance it will break just like any othe MT on the market


Tune your savage broke because the only time it saw up keep was when it did BREAK!!!

Then off-road racing is WAY different from on-road. The better, more aggresive races usually end up with the most cracked up cars. It just happens.

And keep in mind, when you get hooked on racing and you've been waiting all week you have more at stake.

Sure, I've got a spare for nearly every possible part that can break on my truck including back up engines. I'll swap out an entire tranny if the forward only goes out, or a diff, or servo just to get back in the next race.

When guys bash and something breaks they go home. They don't have the degree of commitment because it's not as much of a challenge and no bragging rights are on the line.

Wait....some of you are saying you don't break parts during off-road races and some of you say you are.

My guess is, stuff gets broken, even when the most skilled drivers are racing.

i wish all you people would just get a life. A truck is a truck and there all built with different purposes. Yes parts are gonna break no matter what truck you have. Yes some trucks bash better then others and some race better then others. Theres enough mt's out now were you can buy one and have it do whatever you want right out of the box. Anywere from the 1st place winner of racing revo or the 1st place basher the savage. There all build to do certain things and no matter who's driving parts are still gonna break.

yes it is but it doesnt just have to be about what better a savage or revo. Theres many other things in this hobby besides comparing those 2 trucks.

maintence is key in off-road racing. You show up tot he track with Savage/Revo that hasnt been maintained and sure you can expect to break somthing. Rocco, Tex, Mich, Thrash, TUne and myself probally take good care of our stuff. And when we do break something at the track, it a fluke or some bad crash that happens.
