Rotary carb on what truck?
01-26-2006, 10:56 PM
That's cool... I'm sure I can rig something up... didn't know if there was an easy way I wasn't aware of...
01-26-2006, 10:59 PM
Dan, Bypass the bellcrank, and hook the throttle linkage straight from the servo to the carb
01-26-2006, 11:00 PM
On the throttle wouldn't it close the carb?? And if I reversed it I would lose brakes then... Or maybe I am picturing the crank wrong in my head...
01-26-2006, 11:02 PM
No, I'll show you what I mean on Saturday
01-26-2006, 11:02 PM
you can move the throttle lever to any position so just move it to were it opens the carb the way the stock linkage is. You'll have to adjust epa's and such but no big deal.
01-26-2006, 11:03 PM
Hmmm... I'll take a look and will check out newguys. I think I understand though...
01-26-2006, 11:05 PM
I don't have a rotary, but I can show you what I mean. It'll be easy. As long as you have adjustable endpoints on your radio, you 'll have no problem
01-26-2006, 11:09 PM
well right now I have the stock radio so....
hopefully I will have a spektrum M8 soon enough though...
01-27-2006, 08:40 AM
yes spektrum with M8 would be optimal if your looking for a killer budget setup.
BUT you could buy a receiver and crystals for the mx3 you have. OR do what I did and just buy a standard FM radio with all the adjustments to get you started for about $50 including tx/rx and crystals. Then later when you get ahold of more cash for a better radio you can sell the used FM for the same $50 you bought it for and have more to put up for the M8 combo.

You could always with a jr xs3. They are selling for a 100 bucks with reciever and radio. Alot of people are going to spektrum wich means alot of people wont be using other frequencys like #63 or #69 . Just a thought

Chris, I agree 100% and have chosen that route. People are giving away their XS3's. Kinda like 3300 batt packs in electric right now. They are O U T !!!

Dan, listen to Dave on that one.....I've burned three servos with the stock radio before I figured out I needed EPA's..... I haven't burned a servo since getting a better radio.

Quote:Dan, be careful you don't damage that new servo with overdriving the endpoints because of the stock radio.... VERY good point. Like Tex said, $50 for a cheap FM with adjustments for now, is better than blowing a $100 servo because of no endpoint adjustments.

POSTED ON S_GRID JUST NOW

Ok... let me make sure I got this... the endpoint is where the truck basically can't turn any more but the servo is still trying to make it right??
Now it sucks but I can't se spending $60 or so on a reciever and crystals, or a radio right now, when I know I won't be able to resell it in time for the M8. I am thinking that I will have the opportunity to get the M8 within a couple of weeks... I don't know...
01-27-2006, 11:21 AM
I wouldn't use your good servo then, plain and simple. You could blow it in a few weeks time and you'd be out that amount of money also.
Trust me, it will blow....may not be this week but eventually it will. Oh and yeah the end point is when your wheels turn to the furthest extent. Yes the servo continues to try and push the wheels past that extent and that's what blows the servos out.

Ok I was right then... argh. As soon as I find out how long on the M8 I will figure something out. I think I will only be running twice between now and then so hopefully I don't screw anything up...
01-27-2006, 11:26 AM
EPA is setting the max amount you want the servo to move.
01-27-2006, 11:28 AM
Yeah I was just double checking on that. Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything...
And it's the man with the M8 LoL
01-27-2006, 11:28 AM
epa, End Point Adjustment just simply limits how far the servo can turn. If your already getting full steering and your servo is still trying to turn your truck more then 100% you would back off your epa's and limit it to about 95% full steering. Its like if you already have your car floored and are going top speed with the engine at full rev, you dont dump the nitrous in then and try and go faster then the car actually can. with epa's it would limit that to not using the nitrous. Maybe thats a better way of putting it for you?
