what 1/8th scale do you own?

Hello all,

I am looking to purchase a new 1/8th scale for next year just wondering what you all have or want to have. I had a Ofna 9.5 MBX. Looking to get an xray xb8 or a kanai or a 777sp1

777sp1 or XB8... drool. I had a Hyper 7 and have a landmax 2 (Mp7.5 buggy based rally car) either the 777 or XB8 would be a good choice.

I would look into the xray buggy. Seeing it at the show and in the magazines it just really looks well built. Better than the other buggies in my opinion.

yes I like the xray my concern is parts availablity. There are pages of Kyosho parts on ebay with very few xray. I am sure this will improve with time. Does anyone know if Als or Leisure carries xray parts?

I'd say the XB8 is the way to go.........But your right about part availability. I'm still considering which of those two to get also. I'm leaning towards the 777 SP1 more because of the parts.

Nice site! They have the Savage SS kit for under 300.oo, thats like 30.oo less then most other online stores and with free ground shipping to boot, thats a good deal.

I bought mine RTR from them in April for $369 with free shipping. They have the best deal around. I wonder how they can sell them for so cheap. I think the cost for the RTR is ~$370 for hobbyshops.

The Kyosho's are the popular buggy for the more serious racer. Ofna seems to be a good start out buggy especially their ultra and 9.5 series. Their Hyper series is mor erace orientated. But the 9.5 are good racers but super durable.

I was at Venture Hobbies last night and they have the RTR Savage for like $409.00 and the SS Savage for $319.00. But then theres no tax on the internet purchase as well. Buying it for Ultimate Hobbies would end up saving you almost $50.00 on the SS.

Ya im looking at the 7.5 kyosho sport RTR. I called Al's Hobby he said they have the buggy ($480)...(ebay i saw a auction for 400 shipped).... and Al's they carry the most parts for kyosho buggys. I didnt see it ultimatehobbies. What do u guys think? Inferno

Well I made my decision. This is what I ordered.
Reg Kyosho 777 320.00

sp1 shock towers
cvds, and chassis 130.00

King headz chassis
braces, abd f/r support
arms 100.00

hexscrewz screw kit 48.00

total is just under 600.00. So it will be more hopped up than a 777 sp1 that sells for like 600-650. It just took awhile to get it figured out. The only thing I am missing from the sp1 in the TCD front diff. I can pick one up on ebay for like 40 bucks.

Congrats on the Xray purchase, I seriously considered it, just wanted to be able to get spare parts, and I couldn't find any.

Thats alot of money on an outdated design. Do you want an rtr or a kit? If you want a kit you can get a k2 for 410.00. Or look into lightning or the sportworks. Not trying to rip your decision, but fully look at your options first

Dirtdawg, what motor you gonna run in your 777 ? I 'm thinking about running either WS7, P5 or the kanai Sirio. Any input ?

I have a few options. I will probably run my hyper 7 8 port. I love this motor.... There are a few guys that we run with that has the ws7 and a r5. and my hyper keeps up with them. I think the tracks we run on are not big enough to matter. Our biggest straightaway is like 120 feet. Plus i have the os carb on my 21 so it run like a dream and totally screams.

I also have a rossi Black magic, but right now I am sold on my hyper

The motors you mentioned are all great, but I love beating or keeping up with them with my 120 engine. I would rather spend my money onother hop ups or go for a better buggy just my 2 cents worth

I say go P5... perfect for a place like leisure hours where low end is needed. If it was mine.. I'd put the .28 into it.. hehe.. torque is good. lol! Hyper 8 ports are way to hit of miss for me. one is excelent and the next 5 are junk. of the 4 I had only one was really good, fast and reliable.


Ata.. stay away from the RTR 7.5 sport unless you want to put $1000 of hop ups into it to make it up to par with the Kanai buggies in the strength and reliability category. The RTR 7.5 sport has soft cast diffs instead of hardened steel ones, cheap soft chassis that will bend on the first bad jump, plastic is softer than the standard 7.5 and breaks easier than a standard 7.5, plastic spur gear, junk servos, no universals at all, horrible Pipe, and the engine makes all of 1.4hp on a good day.

I'd get the standard 7.5 buggy kit, then put in a hyper 8 port or other sport engine and decent electronics, a decent front and rear chassis brace and your off to the races. actualy a better choice would be an ofna Hyper 7 PCR. they are Very good sport buggies with great features for the price.
