I use my ez start without the glow plug wires, just to turn the engine over. I use a handheld ignitor in the summer/winter.

Since I like to bash more, I keep the ez start on, but when I don't feel like charging up a battery, I run my 2.5 Maxx. If I have a batt charged up, I run the Pro .15. If I feel like charging a battery and more power, I swap out the ps for the ez start on the 2.5

I would say it is easier with a EZ-Start when it works, that is if you feel like puting up with it all the time.

What do you mean putting up with it? The best mod to do to it is to take out the glow plug wires, and use a handheld ignitor, and just use the ez start to turn it over. Works a lot better and catches on easier than with the full blown ez start.

When my fingers are frozen, I'd much rather pull a rip cord than press a button, but sometimes I get lazy.

I guess it's whatever you want.

My EZ starts have alway been junk, not working, wires breaking, I just don't like them.

I say pullstart, my ezstart was a piece of junk, the wire kept trying to break, and the thing blew out about 2 and 1/2 months after owning it, it started to turn over, some flame came out the exhaust, and then it was dead, but luckily I had the pullstart already purchased and was going to put it on that night anyways. Also the OWB always slipped on mine, and sometimes took upwards of 15 minutes to get started.
My R/C's:
T-maxx 2.5-front rpm a-arms, front/rear alluminum skids, pull-start, ofna failsafe, 5 cell hump pack
xmod red 1969 camaro with 6 cell conversion, stage 2 motor and body kit
xmod Red Toyota Supra-no upgrades.

xmod Silver Acura RSX-has green underglow lights, and blue LED exhaust, and body kit.-My parts car(as it is broke, and too lazy to buy part to fix it)
xmod Yellow Acura NSX-has body kit(sometimes put the RSX body on it)

pullstart has always been more consistant as far as getting the 2.5 started for me. Once primed it only takes a couple tugs usually and it fires. The EZ start was way inconsistant for me, sometimes it starts right up and sometimes it doesn't.

I still like EZ for one reason. It does the pulling. Sure PS frees up power and weight, but I don't think lack of power and too much weight (watch it) are what makes me a slow driver.

IF I disconnect the EZ, then casual running in the yard becomes more of an inconvenient chore than a simple button push.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but my EZ still works fine. And it's staying on until it breaks.

Consider your self lucky, I liked the EZ-Start but mine kept going on so I said screw it and I just went right to the pull start and like it better.

pullstart= WAY better than EZ start.

I've used both, have you?
Sounds like all the EZ start users have never tried anything else except EZ start.

Tex, How do you come to that conclusion?
Tex Wrote:I've used both, have you?
Well... 3 Of the 7 people who posted here, already said that they've used both and find EZ starters easier to use. That was the question,Wasn't it?

Tex Wrote:Sounds like all the EZ start users have never tried anything else except EZ start.

I assume your refering to ALL 3 of us, that are in favor of the EZ start, but 2 of the 3 have already stated that both have been used. As for me, I've been tugging on a pullstarter since 2000. I've broke-in many cars using a pullstarter...and it sucked. I use to pull start my Pirate 10 but now I bump it. Hell, I've got TWO pullstarters, that are not in use right now because it's easier for me to use the ez start. Hence the name "EZ START". If I feel that I want to shave off 3.8 onces and get less rotating mass just to be a bit more competitve at the track, I might make the switch.

We all know what works for some, may not work for others.

So...In my opinion: The Ez start, starts my engine easier in the winter.

Let's clear this up though, ok?

Pro .15 or 2.5®?

I found that the Pro .15 geartrain is a lot more stout, and can handle much more abuse.

I've had one gear strip on my Pro .15 ez start, and that was because of my stupidity (Hydrolocked it because I forgot about the paper towel in the exhaust)

The 2.5 OTOH has had four gears broken, and all of them the middle gear. Nevertheless, it's a matter of choice. If I had the option of using one for the rest of my life, I would definately choose the PS, but I view the ez as more of a luxury.

+1 EZ start = luxury (or in my case, lazy). I really like not having to get under the body to mess with pullstarting.
