Kyosho ST-R side by side next to my LSP......
ST-R isnt all that short after all, concidering the LSP is the longest one out there Smile

ST-R chassis laying on the LSP
Notice the flywheel opening? Even though the ST-R is shorter, the engine sits back further then the LSPWink

thats because kyosho did the smart thing, instead of doing waht all the "truggy conversion kits" do, they lengthened the rear AND the front of the chassis to more evenly distribute the weight, line up the flywheel and spur gear openings and then see the difference.

Looks good!

Im not saying anything yetSmile
I'll just have to wait and see after I get to drive the ST-R.
I have a feeling its going to be better/faster for me, but we'll see.
Im not getting rid of the LSP just yetWink

After building the ST-R though, the thing is like a precision machine....makes the LSP seem like sloppy seconds Big Grin

How about at the track a comparison of all the newest truggies like hellfire, crt, lsp, str. I think a picture of them all side by side will really help people in there decision on what to buy. What do you say? Il bring the crt, just hope it doesnt melt the table cuz that truck is HOT, jk lol.

ST-R guys...

What tire and insert combination has everyone been using for their intial set-up for the Kyosho ST-R?
Also, is there any need to modify the tires or do they fit the standard Kyosho rim?

Thanks,
Kevin

NIce pics Eric...

The str wheels fit my lsp. I did have to trim the inner bead off for clearance. They now make my lsp 17 1/2 inches wide compared to 18 1/2 with the crt wheels.

Eric once you finish and mount up the wheels can you measure the width fo rme.... Thanks

17 1/2"??? Are you sure thats right?
As you can see in this pic....

The trucks are the same width, I even laid one of the ST-R a-arms on the LSP and they are the exact length, and we know the knuckles/C-hubs are the same too.
Maybe your 17mm conversion parts are adding width?
My ST-R is 15 1/2" to the outside of the tires, outside of the wheels is about 15" Smile

I finished it up at about 2pm today just in time to head out to Leisure Hours.
I did a quick (for me anyway) 3 hour paint job so I would have a body to use since the LSP bodies dont fit good Big Grin

Thanks guys...
The truck was good...I didnt have any problems with the truck itself, other then needing to adjust some suspension setting to make it better yet.

On the other had, I did have lots of little issuse.
I only got there in time to run one tank for practice, spent that tuning the new pipe and new fuel I was using.

First heat I was running first when my clutch locked up with a minute to go Sad

Second heat, I had a bad glow plug at the start and couldnt get it running, changed the plug and then had starter box anlignment problems....so I missed 3 min of that heat Sad

Third heat, I had yet another plug problem at the start, go it changed and still managed a 10 lap heat with my first lap being 64 seconds long due to the late start.

Then the main I had some strange tuning issues with the only unknown glow plug I had left, and it was running so lean that I had no acceleration and it flamed out twice on me, wouldnt idle....didnt get it running right till 30sec left of the main Sad

So....I think once I get the bugs worked out, it will be real nice.
It handled good for its first time out, it actually steers so good that I had to learn how to drive again :bustingup
