Well Sunday it all ended for a while. I was riding at CPX (and even stopped at the track for a little bit) before everything went bad. After riding most of the day, and clearing the 18, 15,10, and 17 foot dirt jumps just fine, the 5th and 17 foot dirtjump did me in. I landed the previous one long and in the flat so it robbed me of some of my speed. I thought I still had enough but ended up landing a bit short. My rear wheel caought the lip of the landing ramp and loaded up my entiresuspension. I slammed my chest into the bars, and when it rebounded I was thrown forewad and into the air. I landed on my side and head. My helmet broke (as they are supposed too) and I was left with bad road rash, swelling, bruising, a concussion, and worst of all a lacerated liver. I went to the hospital for X-rays and a CT scan and the found that my liver had a laceration in it 10 CM tall, 13 CM deep, and about 2 CM wide. I went about 80% through the right lobe of my liver. Another 20% and I would have had to go into emergency surgery and would have had a 3% chance of living. As it is I can't look at a bike for at least 6 weeks and can't jump for at least 6 months. I wish I didn't sell my RC.

SH1T Dan!!!! You are one lucky sob. I hope you heal back to 100% fast. You need to get back to a hobby where the bad crashes only destroy the vehicle, not the driver....
Get well soon, buddy!

I think there is a couple pics and a video of some of the good jumps. I may have a pic of my arm and hip from right after, and I could always get some current pics. No pics of the actual crash though. I dont think I could watche them anyway. That was/is a lot of pain.

LoL. It'a all good rocco. I pinned that beak and my chin into my chest so I didn't break my neck when I landed. Like I said I did break my helmet.... Had I not been wearing it it would have been my skull. If I didn't know how to fall right I could have broken my neck too.... It's a dangerous game but when it goes right it is amazing. After this I almost don't know if it's worth going this big. As of now I do see myself doing it in the future, just with FULL armour. (Arms, legs, core, everything.). We will need to see when the time comes. For now just lots of sleep mixed with nothing. Like I said.... I wished I didn't sell my RC. It's one of the few things I could have done. I can't drive for a while, heck I can't even fish for anything over 8 pounds or so....

Dave... Not for a while man. LoL.
And as much pain as this is putting me through, I will never give up biking. I love to ride. It's what I do. The best news through this was that I would be able to ride again.

For 48 hours I had nothing but ice chips in case I had to go into emergency surgery. That was when I was in Intensive Care. After that I was on clear liquid only, and now I am on a normal diet. There is a list of medicines I can't have, and I can't have alcohol, but other than that I am ok. I just don't have much of an appetite. If I can sell a bike soon I may buy an RC car.... They don't take a lot of energy to wrench on and aren't very heavy. But, since I'm not working I don't have a lot of money.....

Ohhhh chit....Man now that's why I don't do that kinda stuff... crap. Wow that sucks... But yeah, like traxxas thrasher said, think about some stuff... If you would have landed just a bit differently, you could be paralyzed. That would be, well, no fun. You'd be just a talking head that somebody had to flop around when you have to take a dump.... And with your luck you'd end up with a guy nurse that wipes your azz.... So basically, think about what you're doing. Mabye stay off that huge freggin stuff, stick to long distance biking and some smaller stuff. Leave the huge 17ft jump to your r/c.
Psst Dan...Pick up that Bandit...lol
Get well soon.

It's hard to explain my love for riding to people. I know I take a risk every time I do it, but it's what I love. I may be a little more hesitant when I do it next time, but I will still do it. I was careful this time and I got out of it alive. Next time I am going to wear more gear and be a little more sure of my entry to the ramp. I will not get beaten like that. When I can do it again, I will be back. I will beat it. For now.... I will pool some of my money together and see if I can find an RC.....

That sucks dude! I wish you a speedy and full recovery!!
As far as rc's are concerned....what kind are you interested in? I got a buggy (gs storm) I'll part with for $50 as a roller for ya. For $75, I'll throw in an old radio and some servos and make it RTR.
