New Store & Carpet Track Opening
#26
dustymutt Wrote:We should be there later in the afternoon on Saturday. I have to go to Milwaukee in the morning. We are in a strip mall. The name is not on the store yet. Waiting for the sign to be made. We are right next to the grocery store (IGA Harbor Foods) There is also a restuarant there along with other new businesses going in there. If you have any questions if I am there tomorrow afternoon. I will be happy to answer them.

What is your expected date to open?

Our goal is for the 1st of October. As long as they get in there and finish the walls this week.

Nice, I'm so excited to get into racing again. I just bought a 2nd brushless rc18t so I can bring a friend and try to get him involved in rc. It has the 8000 in it, but I'll tone it down, ALOT using my castle link so my friend can use it.

Right now it is all matter of the Contractors finishing their work. As soon as they are done we can really get going. Right now we are limited on what projects we can do because we are waiting for them.

Great to have another new track in the general area! If on-road will be on Sundays, I will be able to bring a crew to race frequently.
Here is some info on 1/18 racing... Leisure runs on Wed nights---1/18 on-road open class (any motor/batt). Almost all are Xray m18. Rairly do they have off-road show up.
At my place (Duneland Hobbies & raceway), we race two classes for on-road 1/18. Super stock = 5 cell/Venom Fireball motor. Open class = Any Motor/ Batt. For off-road, we put the jumps out and run; 1/18 buggy open (18b, Vendetta). 1/18 stadium (18t & Mini T). We do both on the same night, but it makes sense to race on-road & off-road on seperate days(gets to be a pain picking them up & putting them down every round). We might change that if turn-outs demand it.
Just throwing this out there to give you a better idea of what is going on with the micro scene (in case you are not involved in it).

Are you still going to be opening around Oct. 1st? I am looking to find some time to come up and see the track.

We just got the walls painted yesterday. And as soon as they get done with the outside building painting it we can finish up in our area. I want to say it is going to be at least the middle of October at the soonest. These contractors are taking a long time to finish. We are still waiting for Bathrooms.

supposedly it's 100' by 38' Ozite.

That's huge, made for 1/10th scales.

How would a 1/18th on road be on a layout that size?

How big of an indoor track was IRP? That was a good size....

The now defunct IRP was 106x48. For A-main racers that was about a 15 second lap time using stock rubber, if I remember correctly. If you've ever been to Trackside I think Trackside is a little shorter than what IRP was. IRP was long.

I have run my M18 on a 80' X 40' track & it was awsome!
I was running the smallest pinion available and it was still climbing at the end of the straight! 8k mamba/Lipo has pretty long legs,,,

Hey Dune...for 1/18th on roads like the Xray M18 and the HPI RS4 micro....what is the optimum track dimensions?

I've never owned an 1/18th other than a Losi Mini-T, but I never raced it. That's why I got rid of it a while ago.

I see that you go all over for 1/18th racing and even race at your own track.

We plan to have the store opened by the Week of October 23rd and the track open soon after that. Things have been coming along at a slower pace then what we would like.

Thanks

I was in the store yesterday. The driver stand(s) look good and it appears as if it's going to be a BIG area for the different layouts.
