Post counts can dissappear! I like Thirdgen89GTA I don't look at the post count when someone gives me advice, I look at the person.
Some of the "children'' on the boards(very loose here since me, dave, mich, rocco, and frosty are some of the most off-topic postin motha-!@#$%^&) are very annoying. i haven't been able to get on the boards that much lately since I got the new job. But it seems like everytime i get on 3/4 of the topics are put up by members i've never seen before. It's cool because it means the boards growing but we're loosing the original members.

I agree, I think youger people should be allowed to post. I think the begging, useless bickering, and pointless posts, are out of hand currently. I do however think the younger crowd with valid questions and good points have every right to post. Or maybe they are interested in racing, or a new to the hobby person who has questions. They should be able to post, that's what we are here for. I also think the "older" memebers are checking the board (I see them logged in almost everyday) but they are basically scared off by the lack of posts worth reading. They prolly read through some threads and think "what a waste of time". Pretty soon they won't check the board at all.

post count lets you know how much of a life you dont have :-p. i may be 15, but i dont act up and beg for rcs....this is just my secondary hobby, i deal with other things than just this... reason why im switching from rcu to here is because rcu is being taken over by kids. this is nothing compared to rcu, people would ask questions like "What should i do with $5?" im always complaining about them upfront, thats why i had moderators status for a month. and i HATE people who type like 5 year olds. i remember a couple guys on rcu who dont use .,! and ? and people who just cant spell right (da, wat, bcuz, y). it frustrates me everytime!!! i wish forums had a "mute" button that no one will ever hear from them again... (ban button? lol)

I am always willing to help out, as I aslo came to this forum for that same reason. The information available here is very valuable, as well as the freindships that are formed. It should be a place to have fun, that's the whole purpose of this hobby.

I hardly ever post because half the time I see no reason to add to the useless posts. I also could care less about the post count, get rid of it, then maybe some of the useless posts from post whores will dwindle down some. Maybe the FST section could be limited by lenght of memebership to the forums? Say you have to be a member for 1 month before your able to post in the FST section? Just an idea..

For as long as I have been in this forum---all of this has been going on.
I mentioned this when I first joined. Now after all this time has passed it is actually going to be looked at?! This is all old news. I sad this back then is to head things off before they become an issue---this just proves what I said before. I spoke from experience but it was brushed off by many of you. Sorry for being direct and I speak the fact about moderators in general as well as ppl who post. We need mederators who will do the job and enforce the rules and the most important one of all that many lack. BEING THE EXAMPLE. It should never be brought to a mods attention when something needs to be done. Tune you have many mods here. So who mods what part of the forum? Who will lead that forum and be responsible for that part? With that in mind a person will know who to go to if there is an issue. Your site is growing. The biggest thing I see here is hijacked threads. I gotta say when I want to read into a topic nothing is more frustrating than that and even more so, moderators in general are not innocent of contributing to this behavior along with the users. As for post counts...you can see this as a waste of time. For newbies it can be a clue as to how knowledgable that person may be. At the same time you can see when they joined and see the post counts are high for a person who signed up for a year. That says to me they don't have a life. Lot of you do have good points and good infor to share. This should not all have to bare down to moderators. We ALL should contribute into improving thisngs in here and our behaviors. Just look back in this thread and where it started to go with bashing. We should use the off topic for the OFF TOPIC. Use the rest for stricklty topic related and weed out all the crapola. If it gets off topic the Mod needs to warn and if it continues remove the non related posts. If the person persists---then suspend them for a week or two. If it still continues then ban. This site has so much potential and can be directed accordingly but we all have to play our part and be more considerate of others. I apologize if anyone felt I was attacking them---I was not. I made points to things that we all know are true but I chose to be more outspoken about it. Sorry if not all this should be in tis thread. just some of my input.

I kind of feel the same way Bio, however, I think the mods do a good job now and they just don't want this site to become a forum like Traxxas where the mods are so bad you get banned for saying "Hellfire". I think maybe the mods need to act a little bit more to get some of the useless stuff out of here, or at least say something to whoever is doing it. I think we are all guilty of it, I know I do it and I know other people do it. If you are complimenting something of someones, helping someone out or have a valid point that you REALLY feel needs to be made then post. Just my opinion.

alot of you guys are trying to make this into a strict ass forum, no offense, but its fun to go in here because its not as serious and nazi moded. You want a forum where you can just get info goto the grid, even that has a ton of BS. We have been doing a good job of keeping this a friendly fun place to visit through mainly self moderation. I think with the increase in new members it kinda went to hell because they dont know the "routine" around here. Ya im a post whore and so are many others, but there isnt too much of the stupid bitching and whinning at each other going on as in many other forums i go on

I was not mentioning it to be a nazi like place.
I do not think many here are trying to make it as you say. It will come to that when the members grow and as the site gains more popularity. I do hear what your saying. That is fine for a small place like this. As small forums become larger in time. You can't avoid growth of a site. With growth you will need structure and this will bring tighter restrictions It is inevatable. We are still a ways away but there is nothing wrong with getting duck in place for when it is needed. The TOS is out of date or shal I put it as inconsistant. What goes on here contradicts the TOS. How can this be called a family place when there is so much bashing and name calling and the racey avitars.

Beating a dead horse is what comes to mind when i see how far this topic has grown. How did we get from having problems with complaining ,begging and running up of usless posts to racey avatars, off topic posts, highjacked threads, and moderators not doing there jobs? I agree with Cezch with it starts with self moderation. The reason i like this forum IS becuse its so laid back. You really think this site has off topic post?Take a good look around at other sites. what we have here is NOTHING compared to the other sites out there. When we do have off topic posts how offten does it say off topic? maybe 3 or 4 posts? I dont see that as a problem, thats just A.D.D LOL and we ALL do it! i can go back through everyone who has posted on here and read your past posts and ill find many examples of off topic convo. As far as running up posts, yes it happens. But if your one of the many people who could care less about post numbers then why would you let it bother you.So what, your here a few months and have 1000 post?Congrats! heres a pie!Or your here a year and only have 50 posts? Congrats! A pie for you too! the point to remember here is that without posts we wouldnt have a site.We do have alot of young new members and alot of them are not familiar with how forums work. We where all at that point at one time. And the running up of post and post cout is always going to be here.So we cannot condem them because they have high post.Look at it this way, these young people are the future of our hobby. make an example and show them the correct way.As far as racey avatars in a family place, take a look on tv. the avatars on here are mild compared to what i see on tv and RC Mags. You cant turn a page in a RC add and not see something that someone somewhere would consider racey. In todays world sex sells. What can i say, if i dont like it i turn the page or change the channel. We all have that choice. As far as moderators go they have a life too. they cannot be on here 24/7 to monitor every post every sec of the day.If things do get too out of hand we have nobody to blame but ourselves. Its up to all of us to keep things on the up and up level. If there is something that bothers you, REPORT IT! thats what they make that little button for.Sitting around and complaining that your offended solves nothing cause if your not apart of the solution your apart of the problem. We all need to remember that we are all here cause we all share the same love for this hobby.Almost everyone in here has meet up with other member from here for a bash or B/S/T.And why is that?cause i think out of all the forums ive been in this one shows the greatest bond between members. This IMO is like it is because of the way the forum is right now.If we tighten up here like such and such forum or loosen up here like such and such forum what makes ours any different from the others? Its the differences here that set Chitown rc apart from the others, and its the differences that will bring more members to this forum. And last but not least if there was a problem that needed attention im sure Mr tune would have addressed the problem.

With large forums we don't need to worry about swearing so much as its moderate. There is no reason to swear every other word, but also there isn't anything wrong with using the more mild words so long as it isn't really directed at a person. There is a difference between a swear word, and actually verbally attacking someone. Compare: Damn, I want one of those! Shut up you damned idiot. Damn is in sto both, but the intent is different. On the traxxas forums my ass would have been banned just for what i wrote above. However, I don't think we need to be so strict, I think traxxas is TOO strict. Hellfire is the name of a TRUCK! Its a product you can find on nearly any hobby store shelf. It shouldn't be cause for a ban or points for that matter. Begging should be eliminated. It annoys the forum members. Thread hi-jacking? Kept on topic, warning usually suffices, other than that either moving or closing the thread works great. No one is really punished, but it gets the point accross clearly. I've seen it happening already, so for the mods I say keep going. Spamming = evil. Warning should be sent via PM, and the thread deleted. Multiple threads on the same subject. I'm of two opinions on this. Some threads simply get TOO long, and it can turn people away. Such as the busse woods thread, that thread is all about the weekly events from the bash, and whats going on for the next week. However after a while people see the thread title and simply look away. For the spam type multiple threads. Wanted: trade MT for buggy, and Wanted: trade MT for on-road, both threads should be one thread titled, Wanted: trade MT for on-road or buggy... Its simpler and keeps things in check, specially since BOTH threads are talking about trading the MT for different cars. What I wrote above is taken from forum policies that currently are working very well for the few forums I visit that are 100,000+ members strong with an average of 600 threads per day and god knows how many posts. Very active forums and yet they aren't nazi like at all.
