Glad I didn't sell it then. When I upgrade interiors it will be put to good use. I need to rewire everything then so I am kind of putting it off. Need new head unit, all speakers, who knows what other goodies I'll want. Do you (or Slim) have opinions regarding interiors? I think I have 5.5's and then .5" tweeters maybe? I don't remember off the bat but what would you recommend for a moderately priced replacement? (Factory Monsoon in a VW GTI right now.) Head unit recommendations? (I have a double din and would really like to stay away from a spacer if at all possible....)

I am not 100% sure right now.... Basically not anywhere near MB Quart or top of the line JL type prices. I will spend a bit, but not THAT much right now. I know its vague but maybe you could recommend 2 or 3 at different price points?

Ok. So if I got this amp, it's 300 watts RMS, at 2 ohms. I'm looking at a sub that is rated around 300 watts RMS, with DUAL 2 ohms.
Will those match up ok??? Or with the dual 2 ohms on the sub, will that make it underpowered (150 watts)?

see this is how it works. when you add both of the voice coils the resistance goes down. it would make a 1 ohm load. but the amp is only good at 2 ohm. so it would be toast. for that to work you would want either a single 2 ohm sub with a single 2 ohm amp or dual 2 ohm amps on a dual voice coil sub. i love electric class.

Ok...So if I want to use that amp, I just gotta find a sub with a single 2 ohm setup...K, thanks John.
Your explanation was actually usefull... OH GOD that means the next three pages in this thread won't be about audio at all haha

Oh, hey. Alpine type r 10" in is dual 4 ohm. so I could use that in theory. RMS would be sufficient, but the amp would reach nowhere near peak.

or it could be a dual 4 ohm that when you wire it to one amp it would become a 2 ohm load.

thats how mine is running. i have the dual 4 ohm. when my amp is wired at 4 ohm its like 220w rms. 2 ohm is like 400w rms.

Matt, pick up either one or two 12" cv-r's. Go to a flea market and you could pick them up for about $150-200 depending on the box. They sound nice and clean and hit hard.
