I have the mbx5r and my dad had the losi. The one to get just depends on your driving style. The mugen I can throw around and really get on the power hard, it fits my driving style very well (semi out of control).
The losi you have to drive like an electric easy into the corners and easy out, you have to roll on and off the throttle also it seems like the harder you drive it the slower it is. You have to be very smooth with it.

My 2 cents
Forgot to mention having parts that are interchangeable is nice too.

That pretty much sums it up right there...I drive WAAAY out of control. No wonder Chad does so well with it. Confusedmash: Thanks Guys

First time out on the track this weekend with the new losi....thing was dialed and super easy to drive. I have to say though, I do have a feather throttle finger and I try to drive "in control" hahaha...

From my short experiences with 8ights is that you have to drive them like a GT but you can get on them a little harder.

Kevin its Eric bud i have both cars and i felt more confrortable with the mugen with my driving style the eight likes to be driver hard and if you like a car that feels on the edge the 8ight is for u. Know for the mugen well you have the truck so know you can use some of the same parts and feels very smooth. As far as the 200 dallor price diffrents look at what it comes with chassic braces, rear hubs, one piece motor mount.lhr prices losi 8ight 550 dallors mugen mbx5r 580 dallors. Man all i can tell you is try driving other peps car before you buy!

Good post! I just got my 8ight and haven't had the chance to drive it, but I love the smoothness of the electrics, and when a good friend and LHS owner mentioned this to me I knew the 8ight was for me.

sounds like you got some guys who will let you drive their buggys. See if you can meet up with them on the same day and see what you like best.

The 8ight is a fast car. I think the Nitro challenge showed that.

in door, the losi has the advantage. BUT it takes the right driver to make it fast, meaning you cant muscle the car around the track, it WILL be slower. driving smoother like how the losi wants it, is only going to reward you with any car.

I like chads once it was dialed in, and the main i was very comfortable with it. felt like it was my own car. but i was .5 sec off pace every lap. i pushed really hard in the main and best i could get was a 22.3 and the 8 was getting 21's the last 2 weekends i had it.

i believe the shootout. i read it. Kevin, i think if $ was a lil closer id get the mugen,(considering the driving you do and out door coming up) but man for 400 NIB thats hard to beat, thats why i just bought a losi, again.... the price is hard to beat.

slim, i think one reason you were a .5 second of the pace with my car is the lack of bottom from my s5, gotta get that taken care of, last week i got pulled coming on to the back straight every time., top end is great but needs more low end punch. we will see, gonna lace up a vspec in there soon and solve that problem, till then i will run the piss outta this s5 at 280*...LOL
