What happened to all the forum activity/traffic? Lurkers get in here.

yeah tune if you make a seperate racing and bashers forum i think it will attract a little more attention, i know i would post more. another thing is that its summer and people are busy, once school starts and the winter starts to get crappy i think more people will come on and post.

I still lurk around on a daily basis, and continually see the same old stuff, Day in and day out.

I remember back when the site started up, If someone had a question, in a matter of minutes, there were 10-20 helpful posts. Now, the only questions that seem to get answered, are race related questions ONLY, with a few "Why did you get that "turd", the new __________ is coming out in a month..." added in for "flavor" (No pun intended)

I've tried to send a few people over to the forum, and always get the same reply. People that I know that just "Run for Fun", or "Bash", find no usefull info.

Seriously, if someone posted in here a question about having problems with a T-Maxx, or Rustler, How many helpful posts do you think they would actually see? Even the racers get shot down, when they ask for help, the common reply being, "If you learned how to drive...."

Not to mention, if someone has a complaint about ANYTHING that happens at LH, they get jumped on for bringing it up. Last I checked, Tune Pays for and runs this site, Not the local racetrack. I agree that the issues should be brought up to the track itself, but to "ban" someone for venting about an issue they had is TOO much.

As Firesprink said, the last time we had a "Berwyn get-together", it had to be listed as a BBQ, just to get people to read it. Just this week, someone asked when the next BBQ is, only to have the thread immediately changed to a "Track Pizza party".

A Bash forum may bring some life back to the boards.
I'll keep my God, my freedom, my guns, and my money. You can keep "THE CHANGE."

I'm still a fan of the site but have seen so much attitude. People feel they to comment on everything. Even if they have nothing usefull to add. I agree though Tune, it has mellowed a bit lately. I'm a basher that wishes he could hit every race but with a family, you find time for what you can. This is one of the only forums I've seen where fs/ft ads turn into pages of "who would want that POS?"

I lost interest in the hobby somewhat (lately) but the way this forum has been the last 1 to 1 and a half years has been quite disapointing.

All the old members that posted on this particular thread are spot on (and I had a part in the "race mentality" as well which is sad and I regret it).
I really have to agree with George (cemeb4dk) on page 1. I agree 100% with that post.

Just because someone races does not mean they have to hate bashers or bashing. I know it's somewhat human to dislike things because you love something else but why be a hater?

I was actually thinking recently about trying to bring the "fun" back into the hobby for me and maybe start bashing a little bit, hitting up the Friday night parking lot or Busse. Racing seems more like "work" now and the short periods on the driver stand are not worth it (to me). The hobby is not fun anymore. I need to try and make it less like work and more like a hobby which is supposed to be fun.

+1 Tex.

That was a deciding factor with me in getting rid of things. 12 hours at the track for 15 minutes of run time, just got a little annoying to me. Granted the pit talk and hanging was the most fun. But when you have to pay a babysitter for 12 hours plus whatever it costs at the track and parts and etc just became too much for me. Thats not even including the time wrenching at home preparing. The reward just was worth the work. Some will laugh but thats why Igot back into Golf it 4-4 1/2 hours of bsing with friends and trying to do a hobby I suck at just like RC. I know some other members have gotten into more time rewarding hobbies I know Snake is big into paintballing, by no means am I talking for him but I bet he feels his time is more well spent there than rc. PLus I feel like I got a huge raise every week, without sepending sons on parts hop ups etc.

After reading this, I bet if I would of stayed just bashing with my savage I would still have it and just bash wehn I could. Think about it bashing is all the time you want to spend bashing. If your out for 3 hours bashing yuou could possibly run that whole time, unlike racing.

Anyways TUNE you have done a great thing with this site and I have made many friends, I can still picture Tex and Snake at the old LH track telling me about the site, and everyone has been cool since then. Thats also why people stick around, and post every now and then or lurk. Just because I sold everythign I will still be ab active part, one because I enjoy it here 2 not sure what else I would do at work and home after my daughter falls asleep.

Keep up the great job tune, and kudos for trying to keep the site current

Keep if coming fellas. Lots of good feedback.

This site was never intended to be geared towards one group. I want it to be a resource for everyone.

There's alot of work to be done to get it turned around here and I'm commited to making it happen!

When a select group of people joined the forum, it went downhill quick despite efforts to stop it. It turned into a bunch of kids arguing about stupid crap, asking questions, and shooting down advice when someone took the time to give it to them. I was a culprit a while back and was banned for a month for something I won't get into now. Where many people tried to (and did) make multiple accounts and start the same stuff all over again, I stayed away. I came back and shut my mouth unless I had something to contribute. there is still a few select racers on here that have not gotten out of the hobby, and they carry on their friendly conversations and jabs. In between that is a bunch of "kids" trying to fit in with the "veterans". It just doesn't work that way. You don't "bother" your way into the clique.

I got out of RC again, and though I will probably get back in at some point, do not really know of a way to stop the downward spiral of the forum. Mods wanted to get it under control with the new guys and set a standard. By doing this the veteran members felt that the mods were going "nazi" and there was never a common ground met.

Now, when I did race a bit, bashed a bit, and did many other things I was often told that I didn't know what I was talking about and that my opinions were wrong. I have seen it done to other members and can really see where the "bashers" are coming from.

So..... thats my take on things and I really don't know how to change things, if they can be changed at all.....

I agree.... if I get back in it will be with a fun MT (like the revo) or a large scale. Something that I can just beat on, and maybe race occasionally. Anyone notice how much fun Rob has had beating the living hell out of his RC's, hardly ever changing trucks, and hardly ever racing? I know Bruce never liked to hear this..... but they are still toys.

see i think its wrong when people say its just toys, there's two different directions u can take in this hobby, the fun route or the serious route or a mix. I race because it is FUN, i used to love bashing and beating the piss out of my stuff but im too competetive and that got old. Alot of guys put alot of money into their shit for racing, me included, its definetly not "toys" at that point.

Talk to the old guys at the drag strips with their cars..... It's a hobby, a lifestyle, a money pit, but they are still big toys. I don't want to start that argument though. I understand for some guys it is a very competitive hobby and such.....

In a sense they are toys. But, its alot about competition. It reminds me of that 'super off road' game in the arcade, with the top down view of the trucks. Thats why I jumped straight onto the track when I got into RC...I've always loved Racing and I felt this might be as close to 'real' racing as I would ever get.

there is a thread about some benifit or something and i had no clue what the heck it was...so, i asked. three or four of the immediate responses were smart ass comments. I didnt know it was a race. Sorry, i wasnt born with a conroller in my hand or a race schedule. But its the crap like that that makes people feel like...well screw this place.

Sorry John no useful insight from me. I just pretty much lost interest in the hobby. I still have everything and refuse to sell it, but I just don't want to spend the time on it when I could be doing other things, girls, beer, and girls to be exact.

I still lurk just because of the old group.

I suggest a Hooters night! That will solve all the problems! Hell look what it did for Frosty!!

cr4sh_27,
To be honest with ya, I did read that thread, and I thought those comments were pretty funny. They didn't look like smartass comments to me. Besides, it was in the LHR forum (which is the local race track), and the first response to your question was that it was a race. Straight and to the point. I was gonna ask myself because I hadn't heard of it, but you beat me to it. I saw the ensuing comments giggled and moved on the the next thread.

It that stuff really bothered you, you should have seen this place when we first opened the doors. The funny comments are what made this forum a favorite for alot of poeple. People were able to get away from all the seriousness at the bigger forums and come here.

It was when the funny comments turned to insults that started turning members away.

Heres what I think:

1. Moderators have to be quicker to remove / temp ban people that are being rude or ignorant.

2. Make the for sale ads read only to avoid the stupid comments.

3. Unfortunately all of the technical content on this board seems to have disappeared, not sure how to get that back.

4. Maybe have an off topic area, right now the whole board quickly goes off topic.

Just my opinions.

there is an off topic area there is a whole forum on it. Get rid of the for sale thing all together so nobody sells a pair of used AA batteries Alot of the technical stuff is still there, most of the threads are stickeyed in the offroad section etc.

I bet if we look back to the join date of the meatwad clan, that little rawkfist bastage, and a couple others we could pin point the day the forum went down hill....

I like that one. Make the seller be able to update the thread though (like edit it, not just locked once it's made) so they can adjust price, details, pics, etc.
