To be honest with ya, I did read that thread, and I thought those comments were pretty funny. They didn't look like smartass comments to me. Besides, it was in the LHR forum (which is the local race track), and the first response to your question was that it was a race. Straight and to the point. I was gonna ask myself because I hadn't heard of it, but you beat me to it. I saw the ensuing comments giggled and moved on the the next thread.

It that stuff really bothered you, you should have seen this place when we first opened the doors. The funny comments are what made this forum a favorite for alot of poeple. People were able to get away from all the seriousness at the bigger forums and come here.

It was when the funny comments turned to insults that started turning members away.

thats all fine and good. i understand where ur comin from but it gets annoying when it happens in almost every friggin thread you post in. no matter what the question serious or not. im not gonna start a debate on this...im just giving you personal examples...it gets old. just about every thread ive started has gotton fudged up in one way or another with worthless comments.

That's the main reason I started this thread, to get these opinions and comments out in the open. This is a good discussion we're having right now and it helps steer my in the right direction to get this forum on track so it's usefull for everyone, no matter how choose to enjoy this hobby.

It sucks to hear when members leave because they feel this site is geared toward one aspect of the hobby. I want to change that.

The 2 top changes i feel necessary based on feedback in this thread is to overhaul the classified area and to rearrange the forums so everyone can find what they need. Coupled with a change in mods to help oversee any new forums, i think alot can be accomplished.

firesprink281 Wrote:i ran into a guy at the hobby town in op and told him he should check out the site and he said he had heard it was a racers forum so he never bothered.

Similar experience here...

One day as I was walking around town, I came upon this small side street, just 2 blocks from my house, that had 6 guys running and bashing nitro RCs. They all lived on that block and I never knew of them before. I asked them if they post on chitown RC at all, or are registered, and they all agreed that it was a racers forum and they wouldn't feel welcome.

Tex Wrote:I was actually thinking recently about trying to bring the "fun" back into the hobby for me and maybe start bashing a little bit, hitting up the Friday night parking lot or Busse.

I'd join in.

Even though I seen this forum taking priority over one part of the hobby grade RC world, I still tried to keep the bashes and stuff going by showing that race trucks can be bashed just as well or better than any lst, revo, or savage, since there was a decline in bashers. Figured maybe some racers would try to bash or something on a Friday before a race weekend, or maybe take a weekend off from racing and bash.

A few months ago when I would post a thread about a woodridge bash, I'd wake up the next morning with a ton of replies and we'd end up with a pretty nice bash. The last 2 times I posted, 1 didn't get any interest, the other had some interest, but just ended up being Ponch, and I who couldn't run much, and Tex stopping by to check it out.

At this point I don't spend much time at all on this hobby, becuase I AM a basher, but every time I try to get a bash going, nobody else wants to, so its no fun for me.

To be honest, I haven't even takin my stuff out of my bag yet from the last woodridge bash 4 or 5 weeks ago, because theres no point. What am I gonna do? Clean up and make my CRT all nice for the next bash that probably wont happen for a good 2 months and have only 1 or 2 other people show up.

I'd like to see a change. If more people start bashing again I'll start joining in and wreckin my stuff. If not, I guess my CRT is just gonna collect dust some more. I'll just keep spending my time on biking and photography.

I know I've been part of the problem and after I got banned for like a week or something I have tried to stay on topic and not post a bunch of useless crap. And I can for sure see why the bashers get turned off to the site. Most of the time they get scoffed at for buying a MT and not something that is competitive for racing. I used to bash my stuff and enjoy it quite a bit. I can see why a lot of bashers now race though. After my first race I just didn't want to go home and I wanted to race every weekend. I still bash though I have never lost sight of the fun aspect of the hobby. Though I guess I'm lucky because most everyone at RCR is there just for fun and if your a new driver they aren't going to scream at you for accidentally hacking them or something like that. Nor or they going to yell if you marshal their cars "too slow". This is just my opinion.

The decreases started when you started getting laid in the 21st century Tune and you have ignored your site. There are more ex-racers or RC'ers as mods now also, they've moved on to better things. There's assholes selling Wii's and PS3's in the forsale thread making money off your members like ebay without paying the fees, sorry but thats BS. ANd WTF is this auction link BS at the bottom of this page? Make it more RC related, put Amain, Bmain, RacersEdge, Traxxas links or something else that Bashers and Racers can click on, not no video game crap.

Sorry, but this forum is FAR from being a racers forum. There are racers that are members, there are bashers that are members aswell. This forum lets everyone discuss things like smoking bans, to guitar solos, to vacation pics to painting. There is alot of freedom on topics chosen by the members and i think thats great, but to classify this as a racers forum is far from reality.

Actually, as of late last week, I became an ebay affiliate. Those auction links should only show rc related auctions. When a member clicks on the ad, ebay places a 15 day cookie on their pc. If they buy anything (doesn't have to be the auction you clicked on) from ebay during that time, ebay gives me a cut as a thanks for sending them business. This also includes any ebay links people post. The site is configures to automatically rewrite any links and stick my affiliate id in there.

Since I'm on the subject, when the new classified system goes live, there will be a charge to post an ad. It will be small insertion fee, like $0.25-$0.50, which should stop all the useless for sale ads like used glow plugs for a $1. Anybody selling good stuff, like tires, rollers, engines, etc, shouldn't have a problem IMO. It'll be setup like a credit system where you buy a block of credits for x amount of dollars and use them as you need them. I think it's a very small price to pay to advertise stuff you want to sell, and way cheaper than place like ebay.

joe, if you think we can get direct advertisement from companies like you listed, contact them. You're higher up in the food chain in the rc world than I am. There's a better shot at them listening to you than me, lol. I would be happy to set something up if they wanted to advertise here. I know amain uses google's system, because I see there names popup in the google ads at the top every now and then.

I know alot of you think that being stricter is bad, I think to a point it is. If someone is messing around then that's fine, but like in Ponch's for sale thread someone said "no one wants your POS" or something like that. If it had a smiley next to it or something then you can look at it as a joke and move on. But this particular person wasn't joking and was doing it on purpose to try to be rude. IMO that should be at least a 3 day ban right there for insulting other members.

If someone is looking around at the forum and thinking about joining then they see how some of the members are so rude to the others they probably won't join. I know I probably wouldn't because of a comment like that. (Maybe not just one, but I know there are more around here like that.)

Then on the other hand you can be to strict and not leave room for any fun at all and people won't come back at all.

There is a fine median in there and I think it needs to be found.

I mean the S-Grid is starting to get mucked up by you and Rocco and a few others who feel you've always got to comment on stuff that either doesn't relate to you or you have nothing useful or positive to say. That's what I mean. You, Mike, are one of the primary reasons this forum is dying. Clear enough? You're just as guilty as the little kids you complain about. Please don't destroy the Grid also.

Maybe they are annoying to you, but I get a laugh out of reading their posts. If someone has a question they are usually good to answer it also.

The problem is guys like you that think everything has to be run like you are in the military, let loose, lay back, enjoy reading the forums.

If they bug you that much you can choose to ignore them and their posts won't even show up on your screen.

Tune, it's too bad that you don't have info on new products or races like on Neo-buggy or Red-rc. It would also be nice to see posts by real pros like Aaron Waldron, Drake, etc. Anyone that we see on a national level.

Why don't guys like that post here in the racing forums? Why don't magazine contributers post articles here for the bashers? Why aren't manufacturers spokespeople posting or advertising here? That's the kind of cutting edge info that would be useful.

This is a major RC market that's simply not being properly marketed to by the rest of the industry and therefore has little respect. That's too bad because there are some really good racers and bashers around here. Someone is missing an opportunity.
