A new hobbyshop is opening up in Schaumburg and to help with their Grand Opening on Sunday October 7th we're holding a one day parking lot race, right out in front.
Electric and Nitro, race what you brung. We'll create classes that day. This is all about FUN. No charge for racing.
Bring your own table and chair. We'll be racing about 75 feet away from the stores front door and we'll be running an extension cord for the lap timing system and computer. There will be some outside electric available but how much I'm not sure.....There will be an indoor table to setup chargers.
I'll post specific time and address later. I just wanted to get the word out now.

Hobbytown USA Schaumburg is now open. They are having their grand opening this weekend. We are holding a race for the owner Glen.
The race is on in the parking lot this Sunday October 7th, weather permitting.
Track to open at 11am. Racing to start at 1pm. 2 qualifiers and 1 main race. Free, no charge.
We will be setting up a few tables right outside the store's door to create a battery charging area. We will not be running an extension cord from the store to the track area. So come with your batteries charged and top them off on the charging table, or have your own means of powering your pit space. Please bring your own table and chairs.
Many of the STrictly regulars have said they will attend.
We've run these classes in the past and can continue them in Schaumburg if we get enough people:
Rookie
GT3
1/10th Open
Small Scale
Recoils
Hobbytown USA
247 W. Golf Rd.
Schaumburg, IL 60195
It's next to the Melting Pot Restaurant
I'm coming from the city and I do:
Kennedy to Northwest Tollway to Roselle Rd. Go South on Roselle to Golf Rd. Take a right on Golf road and it's a few blocks down. Look for the Melting Pot. It's in the same mall area.

What scale are you talking about? There will be 1/10th as you can tell from my description.

I may have time to bring my Nitro Thunder Tiger 1/5 Scale bike. Usually practice at LeisurehoursRaceway on Saturday, but this seems fun? Hopefully I will make it there in time for practice if they will let me.

Thanks "Chicagokenji" for organizing this race. It was a blast. My little Nitro Bike was a handfull. Fairly tight turning for the two-wheeler.
That kid "justin" in the rookie class needs get his finder off of the throttle. He obviously plays a lot of video games where crashing doesn't hurt your car. Destroying all of the poles for the turns was a game to him.
Sorry for bashing the "kiddies". Justin softened up after the final race. He came over and talked with me after.
Hopefully this hobby store will take a hold and prosper. It's become a "niche" sport if you want to call it that. It can become really expensive over time and that turns off a lot of kids over time. If the parents are into R/C that helps a lot.

Thanks for coming out, it was good to meet you. Everyone loved watching that motorcycle! Come on out for our indoor season at Strictly.
The hobby doesn't have to be expensive. A Sportwerks Recoil RTR at about 160 bucks is affordable and will run and run and run. It's a fun time racing for a newbie all the way to seasoned racers.
A gaming system is hundreds of dollars and each game is 50 bucks....I mention that if you want to compare what kids spend their dollars on for entertainment.......

RC is cheap...$5 here $5 there....just NEVER add it up.
Nobody goes around lamenting how much they spent on beer last year, now do they? Because it's WORTH IT!
