My buddy just got the VG. It's got OS 2 year warranty. Paired with a good pipe im sure it will be enough power to learn on.
LSP lots of Khz, Werks .28 8 port.

Ok but he didn't want to outgrow it. VG's are good on bottom but lack top end.

rcrunr's got a good idea. I started with the vg and everyone knows how good i am at tuning . It was really easy, and with that warrenty and price its perfect. I wore mine out when the pressure line popped off and it got too hot. I sent it in to o.s. and had a brand new one back in a couple weeks. The vg will work fine outdoor but most wouldnt recommend it, if you think you need more than go with the v-spec for outdoor, by then youll know at least how to handle it for indoor. Now you have a spare engine too. Works out great.

I'm gunna have to agree with you guys on the VG. It's good on the bottom and O.K. on top. IMHO it's a very good indoor engine. That or the Novarossi 3-port is a good engine for a beginner. The VG is very easy to tune, gets pretty good gas mileage too. And you'll still have $350 for a spare engine. Heck if you don't like this engine you still have $350 to spend on an engine and you have a back-up. Just my .02

Only the last part, where did you say anything about the Rossi 3-port or fuel mileage or top or bottom end?

I suggest it because, unlike the VSpec, it has a warranty. And its cheap. new to nitro I guess I'd reccomend an expendable engine to learn on. I blew up my TRX 2.5 in like...2.5 Gallons because I had no idea what I was doing. so Its better to blow up a 150 dollar motor instead of a 350 dollar motor. Logical I guess?

Maybe for a chump... But, for anyone that knows the very basics of nitro engine tunning they arent any harder to tune than ANY other motor... Your blanket comment that all novas are hard to tune is incorrect.

You guys need total starter motors like the GO Tech 3 port sport. Any retard can tune it, it idles all damned day long, gets 9:20 mins on %30 Byron's, has great bottom end and a V-Spec can't pull it indoor. OH yeah, it costs $114 on A-Main.

Bruce... You still got the percent before number thing mixed up...
Now I gotta say, that the "vspec has no warranty" thing is BS.
Sent mine in, got a spankin new one back without a receipt

For the people that think the VG doesn't have great top end didn't watch my buggy all summer since that is the motor I have been running since RC PRO finals in rockford. After a year of use the rear bearing went and off to hobby services it went. They rebuilt the motor but when they put the rear bearing in it got damaged. So back to hobby services it went. One week later I recevied a new motor. I just broke the motor in so those that think it lacks top end come see me at the track.

I dont really like to drag up an old thread. But im getting a Buggy soon, and needed some input on some Budget Motors.
I was looking at, the OS VG, thats like 150.
Novarossi N21B 2001, 3 port. 190.
RB Concept S3II 3-Port Sport.
Im honestlt not well learned in motors, and these are the motors I saw of quality manufacturers for less then 200 bucks.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
The Buggy the engine is going to be in is an Xray XB8EC. OR a Mugen/Kyosho

I think you would be happy with the .21bf or the OS VG. Leave the S3 alone. I havent herd too many that like it, infact one was given to me.
Personally, I have not tryed the OS yet so that would be my choice.
MBX5T - O.S.
MBX5R - Novarossi

Thanks for input. I appreciate it alot
Side note...is it just me or has Chi-Town cooled down from the insane days of old?
